Got a phone call from our builder on the way back from Wisconsin. Says the foundation went over by $12,800 and I need to write him a check. I wasn't aware he could spend almost $13,000 of my money without asking permission. Not sure where he's going to come up with the difference, but I'm not in the habit of fixing other people's problems. This is getting VERY frustrating.

Sounds like he's making his mistake your financial problem. The construction world sure does operate differently.
